BLSA Week Highlights Entrepreneurial Spirit
The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law held several events dedicated to black entrepreneurship, advocacy, and community the week of February 24. The week’s theme, “The Marathon Continues,” was a nod to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, whose life’s work was dedicated to black empowerment and self-reliance.

“If/When/How” Event Week Kicks Off with Discussion on Reproductive Justice
Student organization “If/When/How” kicked off its annual event week with a talk on reproductive justice on February 10. Dr. Sekile Nzinga-Johnson, director of the Women’s Center and a lecturer in Gender & Women’s Studies at Northwestern University, spoke about the history of reproductive violence in the United States.

Activist and founder of the #MeToo movement Tarana Burke gave the Dream Week keynote address at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law on January 27. Students, faculty and staff packed Thorne Auditorium to hear Burke in conversation with moderator Shannon Bartlett, associate dean of inclusion and engagement.

Northwestern Law Joins National Initiative to Create More Diverse, Inclusive Legal Profession
Northwestern Pritzker School of Law has joined the first large-scale collaborative effort designed to create a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. Diversity Lab, an incubator for innovative ideas and solutions that boost diversity and inclusion in law, along with several law firms, more than two-dozen general counsels, a cohort of community leaders, and Northwestern, the sole law school partner, launched the Move the Needle Fund (MTN) — a first-of-its-kind experimental “laboratory” in which new approaches will be incubated over five years in five law firms to serve as a model for the legal industry.

The Northwestern Pritzker School of Law announced today a first-of-its-kind scholarship, which will be awarded annually to outstanding students who demonstrate interest in, or commitment to, African American history and culture.
