November 11, 2014

A team representing Northwestern Law’s Center on Negotiation and Mediation took first place at the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition on November 8-9.

Steven Jacobs (JD ’16) and Travis Simon (JD ’16), both students in Northwestern’s AJD program, defeated teams from the University of Illinois, Chicago-Kent, and University of Cincinnati in the final round. Jacobs and Simon will join teams from nine other regions at the national finals in Houston early next year.

Twenty teams from five states participated in the Midwest regional competition, which took place at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Professors Alyson Carrel and Daniel Gandert coached Northwestern’s Negotiation Team. Teammates Jeffrey Wysong (JD ’16) and Mackenzie Drutowski (JD ’16) also demonstrated a mastery of negotiation skills at the competition and were tied for second overall after the first round.
