Global Village Celebrates 10th Year at Northwestern Law

February 20, 2015

The Northwestern Law community will highlight a wide array of cultural traditions, food, performances, and music from around the globe at the 10th annual Global Village celebration on Friday, February 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Atrium.

This year’s program, led by international fellow Kevin Sanders, will feature nearly 20 countries including first time entrants Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia. Additional countries with tables at this year’s event include Vietnam, China, Brazil, Japan, India, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, and many others. Along with food, each country’s table will feature trivia questions and activities such as Japanese calligraphy and origami lessons, Tai Chi demonstrations, and a Kazakhstani cultural dance.

Adi Altshuler, director of international programs, helped create the Global Village event 10 years ago as a way to bring together LLM and JD communities and share the broad spectrum of cultures represented across the Law School. The event has grown in the last decade, drawing upward of 500 students, faculty, staff, and their families.
