Tina Tchen (JD ’84) to Address Northwestern Law Class of 2015

Tina Tchen (JD ’84), chief of staff to First Lady Michelle Obama, will deliver the commencement address at the Law School’s 2015 Convocation Ceremony.

Tchen has served as an assistant to President Barack Obama and chief of staff to the First Lady since 2011. Following her graduation from the Law School, Ms. Tchen spent 25 years at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She was a partner at Skadden for 13 years before being appointed to the Obama administration.

In addition to her role as chief of staff to the First Lady, Tchen also currently serves as the executive director for the White House Council on Women and Girls.

Tchen was honored with the Dawn Clark Netsch Public Service Award at Northwestern Law’s 2014 Alumni Awards luncheon, where she was introduced by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
