Father Michael Pfleger, Gwendolyn Brooks To Speak at Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day January 17

The celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Northwestern University's Chicago campus will be highlighted by a speech by Father Michael Pfleger and a reading by poet Gwendolyn Brooks.

Father Michael Pfleger, minister of the Community of Saint Sabina Church and 1999 winner of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference will speak at a program entitled "Reigniting the Dream" on Monday, January 17 at 11 a.m. in Thorne Auditorium, 375 E. Chicago Ave. The gospel ensemble, The Heirs of Joy will also perform. A reception will be held following the event at the Law School.

Gwendolyn Brooks, Pulitzer Prize-winning Poet Laureate of Illinois, to perform a special reading at program entitled "Expressions of a Dream" on Monday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m. in Lincoln Hall in the Law School.

Both events are open to the public.
