The American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Section on Clinical Education announced their highest award will be given to Northwestern Law professor John Elson at the AALS conference in January. The William Pincus Award recognizes his very significant contributions to teaching, scholarship, and law reform. Professor Elson has argued before the United States Supreme Court, pursued groundbreaking cases to protect the rights of the most vulnerable clients, and authored important scholarship on the role of clinics and of the merit of scholarship in the legal educational system.
