Veterans Law Association Public Service Panel

October 29, 2014

In honor of Veterans Day, three distinguished judges—who are also veterans—will discuss public service, ranging from their time in the military to their time on the bench, at a Veteran’s Day panel Tuesday, November 11. Organized and hosted by Northwestern’s Veterans Law Association, the discussion will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in Rubloff 150.

The panel features the Honorable Joel M. Flaum of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, who earned his JD from Northwestern Law in 1963 and served as a US Naval Reserve Lieutenant Commander, JAG Corps, from 1981 to 1992; the Honorable John J. Tharp Jr., of the Northern District of Illinois, who earned his JD from Northwestern Law in 1990 and served in the United States Marine Corps as a commissioned officer from 1982 to 1987, earning the rank of Captain;  and the Honorable Arlander Keys, recently retired Magistrate Judge from the Northern District of Illinois, who served two tours of duty with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam.

Dean Daniel B. Rodriguez will welcome the panel, and Barack Echols of Kirkland & Ellis will moderate. The event is free and open to the public.
