Northwestern Law Alumni Honored at Annual Awards Celebration

Two Northwestern Law alumni were recognized for their professional accomplishments and service to the University at Northwestern Alumni Association’s 82nd annual Alumni Awards on April 25. Nicholas D. Chabraja (JD ’67) received the Alumni Medal — the NAA’s top honor — and Herold “Mac” Deason (JD ’67) received an Alumni Merit Award.

Chabraja, a Northwestern University Trustee started his career as a trial lawyer, rising to partner at Jenner & Block in Chicago. He then went on to become the CEO of General Dynamics, an aerospace and defense company. His service and commitment to Northwestern University include support for the Nicholas D. Chabraja Center for Historical Studies at Weinberg College, and a shared professorship between the Northwestern Law and Kellogg School of Management.

The Alumni Medal is the mark of highest distinction granted to a Northwestern alumnus or alumna who has achieved eminence in his or her community and field of endeavor.

Deason, a member of the Law Board and an attorney at Bodman PLC specializes in corporate governance, finance, organization, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions. One of 10 Alumni Merit awardees, Deason has been involved in the Bluhm Legal Clinic as co-chair of the Advisory Board, providing strategic counsel to Law School leadership.
