FAQs

If I apply to the Accelerated JD program but am not accepted, will Northwestern Law automatically consider me for the regular JD (three-year) program?
We will automatically consider all applicants who have taken the LSAT examination for the traditional three-year JD program.

Will you accept two years of graduate school experience/research as an alternative to two years of professional work experience?
We welcome applications from candidates who demonstrate key competencies, including project management, strong interpersonal and communications skills, demonstrated teamwork abilities, motivation and maturity. Ideally, we are looking for two years of professional, post-graduate work experience, but we understand that some candidates may demonstrate these abilities through different types of experiences.

Do you accept December LSAT scores for this program?
We will accept the December 2009 LSAT scores; however, the decision timeline cannot be guaranteed. We do guarantee an admission decision by the end of February for those who take the LSAT no later than September 2009.

What exceptions do you make for interviewing on-campus?
Prospective students are required to complete an admissions interview as part of the application process. On-campus interview appointments become available in October, and candidates may begin reserving an appointment online in mid-September. Off-campus interview appointments with alumni will also be acceptable and can be requested by reserving an appointment online in mid-to-late September. AJD applicants who are unable to schedule an on-campus interview or who are unable to come to campus for an interview should contact the Admissions Office at 312-503-8465 or admissions@law.northwestern.edu, to discuss alternatives.

How many candidates will ultimately be accepted into the program?
In 2010, we expect to enroll between 20 and 40 students.
