Practicum: Sustainability Solutions

This course seeks to provide students with a project-based experience working on a sustainability challenge or opportunity, using a cross-disciplinary, team-based approach. Students from different disciplines/schools will together to develop an analysis and suggested solution to a sustainability problem originated by a business or other organization (e.g., how can a chemical company can release testing data to improve transparency and public understanding while protecting intellectual property and confidential business information, or how can a company institute a carbon offset program for its products that is effective and reliable and will avoid claims of misrepresentation or greenwashing). The whole class will meet for introductory sessions and final presentations, but there will also be regular meetings between each team and the faculty supervisors. The class meets in Evanston on the Quarter schedule. The class is co-listed with McCormick and will enroll Law and Engineering students.
