Clinic Practice: Criminal Defense and Appeals

This clinic concentrates criminal case investigation and trial preparation for a mix of pro bono and fee paying clients. If opportunities are presented, eligible students may participate in courtroom advocacy. There will be some appellate and post conviction representation as well. Students will be exposed to both state and federal jurisdiction, as well as to issues involving confessions, eyewitness identification, forensic evidence, and wrongful convictions. Scheduling of the weekly class can be adjusted if an alternate day/time is convenient for the instructor and each student. Second year students earn 3.0 credits. Third year students earn 4.0 credits Enrollment is limited to JD candidates.
