This course will provide an introduction to federal constitutional law and constitutional theory. Topics to be covered include the theory and practice of judicial review, including approaches to constitutional interpretation; separation of powers, with emphases on congressional powers and the reserved powers of the states; and, as time permits, an introduction to the Fourteenth Amendment's equal protection and due process guarantees. Mr. Koppelman: This course will provide an introduction to federal constitutional law and constitutional theory. Topics to be covered include the theory and practice of judicial review, the powers of the federal government, separation of powers within the federal government, and the Fourteenth Amendment's equal protection and due process guarantees. Evaluation: Final Examination Teaching Method: Lecture and discussion Prerequisites: None. Required, first year course. Enrollment in Section 10 of this course is limited to students in the Accelerated JD Program.
