The American Constitution and Legal System

This course provides an introduction to the American constitutional law and theory. Topics to be covered include judicial review, approaches to constitutional interpretation, the separation of powers between Congress and the Executive, the division of authority between federal and state governments, the Fourteenth Amendment's equal protection and due process guarantees, and time permitting, an introduction to the First Amendment's Free Speech clause.
