Colloquium: Tax

The tax policy colloquium brings together outside scholars, resident faculty, and students to discuss legal scholarship related to tax law. Every second week, an outside scholar will workshop a recent paper with the students and faculty in attendance. On weeks without an outside speaker, the class will meet to discuss the coming week’s paper. Each student will write a short response paper for each presenter (that is, each student will write six response papers total). The required writing in the colloquium will not satisfy Northwestern’s 1-Draft writing requirement; however, students who wish to write a longer paper to satisfy a 2-Draft or 3-Draft multi-draft graduation requirement may do so. Evaluation Method: Response papers and participation. Course materials: Readings (including presented papers) will be posted on line. No required textbook. Prerequisites: Federal Income Taxation or permission of the instructor. Students who would like to complete the 2 draft writing requirement and earn one additional credit hour in this course will be able to self-enroll in the associated LAWWRT 602 course section (class nbr 18887) during open enrollment August 24-September 23, 2016. Students who would like to complete the 3 draft writing requirement and earn one additional credit hour in this course will be able to self-enroll in the associated LAWWRT 603 course section (class nbr 18907) during open enrollment August 24-September 23, 2016.
