Business-Focused and Globally Relevant

Northwestern Pritzker School of Law offers the Executive LLM Chicago (ELLMC, formerly known as the Accelerated LLM), a unique Master of Laws program for working professionals. International law graduates are provided with the opportunity to earn an LLM on a schedule convenient for working professionals through a single summer of coursework. The ELLMC curriculum has been designed by and for global business lawyers. Courses will be taught by faculty of the top-ranked Northwestern Law, situated in a world-class city and major US legal market.

This unique program enables students to learn about the law governing the financial and commercial aspects of business as well as M&A and Corporate Governance. In addition to the core curriculum, two tracks of specialization are available, one focusing on intellectual property and competition law, and the other addressing financial and commercial topics in greater depth. We make full use of our location by bringing in lawyers affiliated with elite law firms and businesses to discuss their careers, the legal profession and topics of current interest, resulting in students having valuable networking opportunities throughout the summer. The curriculum has been organized to allow students to qualify for the California Bar Exam.* Students have the option of beginning their summer in the ELLMC by attending the prestigious Garrett Institute, a two-day symposium attended by senior law firm partners, general counsel and government officials addressing important current issues in the corporate and securities law fields. It is also possible to extend the ELLMC over two summers rather than one.

Premiere Urban Location

Chicago is home to world-class law firms and multinational corporations; it is an architectural gem with myriad cultural opportunities to explore. The ELLMC draws on these resources to bring the real world into the classroom through our colloquium and additional discussions with practitioners and executives throughout the summer. Whether you are interested in a traditional masters of law, online LLM, or summer LLM program, be sure to consider among your alternatives the ELLMC - a program which can be completed in either one or two summers - in a spectacular downtown Chicago setting.

* Graduates of Northwestern Law's Executive LLM Chicago program (formerly the accelerated LLM program) may now qualify to take the California Bar Exam. While the Law School does not guarantee bar exam eligibility to Executive LLM students for any state, the California State Bar has notified Northwestern Law that the current Executive LLM Chicago program will qualify a student to take the California Bar Exam.

Along with other courses in the ELLMC program, students must satisfactorily complete the program's Professional Responsibility course to meet California Bar Exam eligibility requirements.
