Government Links
The most comprehensive listings of government sites can be found through the Library of Congress internet resource pages. Created to provide the public with access to government resources, they are detailed but user friendly. If you don't know what you're looking for, either because you are uncertain of the name of the office or you are simply investigating possibilities, browsing through these links should provide a good start on your research. Many of these sites provide extensive employment information, actively recruiting through their individual sites. In addition, sites specifically regarding employment, such as FedWorld, USAJobs, and StudentJobs, are also listed.
Library of Congress Internet Resource Pages - Excellent comprehensive references. These 3 LOC sites in particular should be bookmarked for your government searches. They provide complete listings of government webs, are logically catalogued for easy access and are regularly updated:
- U.S. Legislative Branch Web sites
- Web sites of the Executive Branch - White House, executive agencies, independent agencies, boards, commissions and committees and quasi official agencies.
- State-Local - Index of internet resources
While it is recommended that you rely upon the comprehensive Library of Congress listings, the following individual links are helpful when you're not sure which office, agency, department, etc., you are seeking. However, not all departments covered in a site are always listed. To fully research which committees, etc. are included in a site, it is recommended that you explore the site in depth.
