Research and Writing
Owen L. Coon/James L. Rahl Senior Research Program
Colloquium Series - Faculty and students meet with leading outside scholars specializing in either constitutional theory or law and economics.
Journals - At the end of the first year, students may apply for a position on one of the Law School's five scholarly journals.
The Center for Legal Studies - Brings together students and scholars interested in combining their study of legal issues with the methodology and perspective of social sciences or humanities.

Communication and Team Building
Communication and Legal Reasoning - A unique blend of traditional instruction
in legal reasoning, research, writing and oral argument, as well as exercises that encourage teamwork and collaboration.
Lawyer as Problem Solver- An interactive mandatory one-day conference for first-year students that focuses on communication, negotiations, team building, interviewing, and creative problem solving.
International Team Projects - Students gain firsthand experience in legal and business environments outside the United States with a two-week field study abroad.
Program on Negotiation and Mediation - Students learn effective negotiation and mediation theory and skills through a series of courses and workshops.
Successful Student Series - Workshops provide students with practical advice about getting involved in the Law School community, organization, and time management.
Simulation Programs
Bartlit Center for Trial Strategy - Students receive training in ethics, professional
responsibility, evidence, pretrial litigation, and advocacy.
Program on Advocacy and Professionalism
Moot Court and Trial Teams - An important part of legal training, moot court competitions allow students to prepare for and participate in appellate arguments. Working under faculty supervision, students prepare briefs and present oral arguments in competition with schools across the nation and around the world.
Real World Experience
Clincs and Centers - One of the largest and most comprehensive clinical education
programs in the country.
Clerkships - Students gain invaluable firsthand exposure to the legal system regardless of their intended career paths.
Externships - Combined with classroom work, second- and third-year students gain on-the-job training.
