Student Housing
Although Northwestern University has closed the Lake Shore Center dorm due to declining occupancy, the Law School is committed to assisting students in their search for housing in Chicago. Student Affairs and the Office of Admissions have enlisted StudentSpace, a free apartment locator and referral service created by four Northwestern Law students in 2004, to help students find off-campus housing downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods.
Their services include a searchable online database, a roommate finder chat room, personal/group tours of apartment buildings, tailored information for Northwestern students living in Chicago, and more. We encourage Northwestern Law students to contact StudentSpace for more information on housing issues.
Some University family housing, in studio and one-bedroom apartments, is still available on campus in Abbott Hall, located at 710 North Lake Shore Drive. Priority assignment to these apartments is offered to students who will be living with their spouses or partners and those living with dependent children. Persons applying for family housing are required to submit documentation supporting their family status. Please call the Graduate Housing Office at (847) 491-5127 for more information about that process.
