Contract Drafting in Spanish This seminar provides hands-on training in the techniques of contract drafting in Spanish. It is designed to present students with the knowledge, tools and skills necessary to draft various types of contracts used in Spanish speaking countries. Students will learn to:
--Negotiate the terms of a business deal in Spanish
--Translate the terms of a business deal into contract concepts;
--Draft a logically-organized, precise, enforceable contract in Spanish;
--Edit (redline) the contract to reflect client input and negotiated changes;
--Engage with ethical and cultural issues arising during the contract drafting process; and
--Read, analyze, and critique contracts drafted by others.
Method of Evaluation:
--Weekly drafting assignments (40%)
--Final project (Interpretation and reading of a contract ¿ 40%)
--Class participation (20%)
--Attendance is mandatory (no more than 2 classes can be missed)
