Advanced Legal Communication In this course we discuss general principles of good written and oral legal communication and advocacy, such as organization, argumentation, and drafting. The course assignments are based on issues from a federal statute. The course provides a number of opportunities for writing and rewriting letters to clients, memoranda, and persuasive documents, for drafting documents such as contracts and leases, and for editing each other's work. You will also have the opportunity for oral presentation of a case.
This course will be useful preparation for the Multistate Performance Test (MPT), for judicial or other clerkships, and for professional communication in law and business.
This course meets the three-draft graduation writing requirement.
Prerequisite: Communication and Legal Reasoning, LAWSTUDY 540
