Health Care Organizations and Transactions This seminar will provide a systematic and timely overview of the many legal issues associated with the operation of our evolving health care delivery system. These legal issues will be explored in the context of prevalent corporate and non-corporate organizational structures for health care delivery and finance, with an emphasis on models for hospital and physician provider business structures, managed healthcare contracting and network development and joint ventures among providers. Through this approach, students will not only be afforded the opportunity to understand significant substantive components of health law (including federal and state regulatory issues), but also will become familiar with current industry trends and be exposed to a variety of organizational and transactional health care delivery and finance structural models which are intended to be responsive to those trends.
Evaluation: No final examination. Students will receive grades based 50% on classroom performance, and 50% on a paper.
Teaching method: Lecture and discussion
