Criminology Manuscripts
Criminology manuscripts are peer reviewed. Please designate on the cover letter if the manuscript is a Criminology submission. Manuscripts submitted for Criminology review may not be concurrently submitted to other Journals. We make every effort to ensure expedited review of Criminology manuscripts.
Criminology manuscripts that use the Bluebook format are preferred; however, we will review Criminology submissions that utilize other citation formats. In that case, our editors will assist the author with the translation of citations into Bluebook format after an article has been accepted. All graphs, charts, and similar material should be in camera-ready copy on separate sheets.

Book Review Manuscripts
The Journal is accepting reviews of books in the fields of criminal law and criminology. Completed manuscripts are strongly favored and should be approximately 4,000-6,000 words, including footnotes. We will not accept manuscripts longer than 8,000 words. If you are unable to submit a manuscript, please submit a short proposal (one to two pages in length) describing the review you plan to write.
In your submission, please include the following information about the book or books you propose to review:
- Author, title, publisher, and publication date
- A brief overview of the book's contents
- A brief description of why you think a review of the book is important and timely
If you are submitting a proposal instead of a completed manuscript, please provide the following information about the piece you propose to write:
- A summary of the anticipated content or scope of the review, particularly the angle you plan to take in considering the book
- The stage you have reached in writing the review and the earliest date at which you could complete a draft; this information is helpful to us in planning our production schedule
All footnotes and citations to authority within Book Review submissions must conform to Bluebook: A Uniform System
