PROFESSOR MARSHALL SHAPO'S NEW BOOK SHOWS HOW TORT LAWS REFLECT OUR CULTURE WARS
A new book by Professor Marshall S. Shapo demonstrates how the evolution of American personal injury law frequently
reflects deep divisions about the role of law and morality in our social life. The book, Tort Law and Culture (Carolina Academic Press, 2003), begins with tort cases involving famous litigants: Paula Jones v. Bill Clinton; a
landmark privacy action by Ralph Nader against General Motors; and a suit by the survivors of Karen Silkwood against
the Kerr McGee Corporation for plutonium contamination. To learn more, click

ABA TO CONDUCT SITE VISIT AT NORTHWESTERN LAW
Once every seven years, the ABA visits Northwestern Law for program review and accreditation.
As a component of the ABA's site visit, the evaluation team will meet with alumni and other leaders of the Law School's
support group during an Alumni Appreciation Open House at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 20. This is an excellent opportunity
to catch up with old friends, make new connections, learn about new programs and services, and act as an advocate
for Northwestern Law as we showcase our innovative approach to legal education. If you would like to attend, please
