Printable version | Import event (vCal)
All Northwestern Law students are invited to apply for the first-ever Lawyer as Leader leadership development retreat to be held on April 12-14, 2002 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, approximately a 1 ½ hour drive from Chicago.

Lodging, transportation, and food will be provided for all retreat participants.

Limited spots are available.

Applications are due March 13, 2002. The application can be downloaded from the web address below and is available in the Office of Student Affairs.

The retreat participants will be selected by a committee of student leaders, faculty, and administration and will be notified of selection by e-mail by March 15, 2002.

Student organization leaders for 2002-2003 and those students interested in leadership development generally are strongly encouraged to apply.

The retreat will focus on some of the following topics: leadership styles, team building, problem solving, event planning, and budgeting. Among other highlights, the retreat will also feature an outdoor ropes course and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality assessment.

Emphasis on leadership, teamwork, and problem solving begins at Northwestern Law during orientation with leadership and diversity training and continues throughout the curriculum in courses and programs such as Communication and Legal Reasoning, the Program on Negotiations and Mediation, International Team Projects, a range of other courses and co-curricular activities. Lawyer as Leader and the recently held Lawyer as Problem Solver Program help to foster a collegial and supportive community at Northwestern Law where students have input on almost all matters and functions.

The retreat promises to be informative, enlightening, highly interactive, and, most importantly, fun! All students are strongly encouraged to prepare for the future by taking advantage of this opportunity to further develop leadership and teamwork skills.
