This year the Law School has selected Dell and Macintosh as vendors for its notebook program. The minimum specifications for the models are outlined below. The pricing is very competitive and every Dell notebook comes with a three-year on-site warranty. The Mac comes with a one-year warranty that is upgradable to three which we highly recommended.
In addition, participation in the Northwestern Law Laptop Program allows you to borrow a laptop if your machine needs repairs. If any part breaks during the life of your warranty, it will be replaced for free within a day or two. Without a warranty, replacement parts like LCD screens can cost more than $500.00!
Your laptop will not include any version of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).
Microsoft Office can be purchased for a significant discount through Northwestern University.
Microsoft Office 2013 (Windows) and Microsoft Office 2011 (Mac) are available at a deep discount through the Northwestern University Student Software Program:

How do I order a notebook?
Northwestern University Law students wishing to order one of the notebooks can do so through the Northwestern Law Dell Premier or Apple Store pages, where you will find more details about the notebooks, be able to place an order, and check the status of your order:
