The Northwestern Law Attorneys General Education Program (AGEP) is a center for research and education on common issues of law and policy that confront state attorneys general.
Over the course of recent years, state attorneys general have come to assume increasingly central roles in policy formation and implementation in state government, often with policy implications at the national level. While many of the issues they face are particular to their respective jurisdictions, many of the most important problems of law and public policy that they must confront are in fact common to many, most or all states. AGEP will provide a common forum for identifying and analyzing such issues, allowing attorneys general to communicate directly with one another and with leading experts, with varying points of view, in such areas as corporate governance, health care, food and drug policy, tax policy, homeland security, consumer protection, administration of justice and law enforcement issues, land use and property rights, energy regulation and policy and many other topics of similar import.
AGEP will offer conferences each year on questions of concern, bringing together leading experts from academia, business and government with contrasting points of view, as well as analytical and bibliographic information for later use. It will sponsor research papers for presentation at these conferences and later publication on the AGEP web site. The Northwestern AGEP is a strictly neutral, non-partisan forum.
