KinderCare Learning Centers
This center which opened in January 2005 provides priority enrollment to the children of Northwestern faculty, staff and students. The facilty is located winthin walking distance of the Chicago campus at 446-448 E. Ontatrio Street. The center serves children from six week to five years old. McGaw YMCA Child Care Center offers three levels of day and after school care:

Preschool Program
The Infant/Toddler program is geared toward infants (six weeks old) through toddlers age 2. Full and half-day programs are available for children ages 2-5.

Afterschool Program
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade are divided by grade and placed under the care of experienced counselors. Transportation from school is provided. In addition, full- and half-day programs are available for children on days when they do not have class or are dismissed early from the Evanston school district.

Club Mid
Students are organized into grade-level "clubs." They receive assistance with homework and can participate in intramural sports. They can also sign up for one-on-one tutoring. A limited number of spots are available for children needing transportation from school.

The Daycare Action Council of Illinois provides benefits-eligible faculty and staff with enhanced resource and referral services which include:

  • Parent consultation regarding child care options
  • Child care provider referrals
  • Database of over 4,500 child care centers, family childcare homes, nannies agencies, sick care, camps and before and after school program in Cook County and the surrounding area.

The Childcare Network of Evanston provides faculty and staff with consultation, referral assistance, and fee-assisted programs in Evanston. For more information please call (847) 475-2661.
