Please welcome US Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan, who will speak on Human Trafficking in Russia.
About the speaker:
Mary Beth Buchanan is the United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She was appointed by President George W. Bush on September 5, 2001, and confirmed by the United States Senate on September 14, 2001. Ms. Buchanan is the first woman in Pennsylvania's history to be Presidentially appointed to this position. From November 2006 through December 2007, Ms. Buchanan served as the Acting Director for the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women. At the request of the Attorney General, Ms. Buchanan also served from June 2004 until June 2005 as the Director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. Between April 2003 and May 2004, Ms. Buchanan served as chair of Attorney General John Ashcroft's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys.

Debate: Jonathan Adler & David Dana - Thursday, Oct. 29
Please welcome Professor Jonathan Adler as he debates Professor David Dana on Environmental Law.
About the speakers:
Jonathan H. Adler is Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Business Law & Regulation at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he teaches courses in environmental, administrative, and constitutional law. Professor Adler is the author or editor of four books on environmental policy and over a dozen book chapters. Professor Adler is a contributing editor to National Review Online and a regular contributor to the popular legal blog, "The Volokh Conspiracy." A 2007 study identified Professor Adler as the most cited legal academic in environmental law under age 40, and his recent article, "Money or Nothing: The Adverse Environmental Consequences of Uncompensated Law Use Controls," published in the Boston College Law Review, was selected as one of the ten best articles in land use and environmental law in 2008. In 2004, Professor Adler received the Paul M. Bator Award, given annually by the Federalist Society for Law and Policy Studies to an academic under 40 for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and commitment to students.
David Dana is a leading scholar in the fields of environmental, property, intellectual property, and professional responsibility law. Before becoming a professor, he was an environmental litigator in both the private (Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering) and public (U.S. Department of Justice) sectors.
