Travel to the symposium is made simple with Chicago's two major international airports, extensive highway network and public transit system. The following information will help guide you to the City of Chicago and to the symposium itself.
If you are traveling by plane, you can choose to fly into O'Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway International Airport (MDW). We encourage students to use airlines' websites as well as discounted travel websites (such as Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz or Hotwire) to compare fares and find the best available. Please note that fares for flights into both airports can be searched simultaneously and by searching for all flights into Chicago using the airport code CHI.
Additionally, the symposium has worked out a general discount with United airlines. To take advantage of this discount, you can call (800) 521-4041 and use discount code 564YF (under Northwestern Law School). The discount will vary from 2% to 10% depending upon booking class.
Once at the airport transportation from both airports to downtown Chicago is simple, with both airports having abundant public and private transportation resources. Both airports are connected to Chicago's public transit network of elevated (or 'L') trains, with O'Hare being serviced by the Blue Line and Midway being serviced by the Orange Line. In addition, both airports provide taxi stands. If you are staying at a hotel near one of the airports, please note that several hotels provide shuttle service. Finally, private cars are available at both airports for travel into or around the city.
