Resources for Families of International Students

The law school is committed to providing support to students' spouses, partners, and significant others.  We are pleased to invite your spouse, partner, or significant other to a number of programs specifically designed for them.  Please visit this web site for information about current and upcoming events and links to resources within the Northwestern community and the greater Chicago area.

To provide better services, we need additional information!  Whether or not you can participate in any of these events, if you have a spouse, partner, or significant other, or dependants, please share this information with us by e-mailing Dimple Patel at law-student-services@law.northwestern.edu .

LAW SCHOOL-SPONSORED EVENTS

  • Spouses Dialogue Group
A discussion group for the spouses of international LLM students for one hour to share the experiences of living with a law student, and to connect in meaningful ways.  The spouses, partners, and significant others of JDs are welcome to attend these sessions.  Check meeting times and location on Esqwire.
  • Spouse Brunch
Networking brunch for spouses only – leave your kids and significant other at home or in the library and join fellow spouses for a late morning brunch.
  • For Spouses: Surviving and Thriving Through Graduate School
Join us for a gathering with Dr. Diane Lin, staff psychologist from the CAPS office, to discuss adjusting, adapting, and promoting health and well-being of self, spouse, and family during the challenging graduate school experience. Light refreshments will be served.
  • Families Trick or Treat outing to Lincoln Park Zoo
Lincoln Park Zoo’s 21st Annual Spooky Zoo Spectacular!

    More information | Directions

From the Law School the Lincoln Park Zoo is most accessible by the Number 151 bus heading North. This bus can be picked up on Michigan Ave. in front of the Water Tower Shopping Center.

  • Community Service Project at the Inspiration Cafe
Join other spouses of Northwestern Law students to take part in a community service project at the Inspiration Cafe in Uptown. We will be making bagged lunches for those in need as well as hear about all the programs and community support that the Inspiration Corporation provides. Meet in front of the Law School on Superior Street at 9:30 to board the bus. We expect to return to the Law School by noon.
