The 13th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition

Co-Sponsored by the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries

The ELI Essay Competition invites law students focusing on the entertainment practice to write a 3,000-word paper on a compelling legal topic facing the music industry today. The contest culminates with the winning student authors presenting their essays at the prestigious ELI luncheon on February 11, 2011.

Awards:

First Place Winner Receives $5000

Four Semifinalists Receive $1,500

All Winners receive:

One GRAMMY Awards Show Ticket

Round Trip Airfare to the GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles

Hotel Accomodations

Ticket to The MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute Dinner

The GRAMMY Foundation's Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) was conceived as a means to recognize and further develop the bond between the legal profession and the recording community with the goal of resolving issues confronting the music industry. One of the premier educational initiatives of ELI is the national legal writing contest and scholarship program, which is co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries. Law students from across the country are invited to research, analyze and submit essays regarding important issues facing the industry.

Dear Members of the Journal of Technology & Intellectual Property:

BAR/BRI Patent Bar Review is looking to hire one Student Marketing Representative to begin immediately.  This is a position for an on-campus independent contractor who will periodically report to us via phone and/or email.  In exchange for just a little bit of time, we will provide a huge discount on our Patent Bar Review.  The representative may earn a free course and unlimited commission!

This position takes no more than 15 hours during the semester.  The responsibilities include (as allowed by the school):

-  2 table set-ups per semester, for approximately 2-3 hours per table

-  3 mailbox distributions

-  postering

-  distribution of brochures

-  making announcements

-  and if applicable, arranging a patent bar meeting

Students should only apply to this position if they will continue to be students during the 2011-2012 school year and are eligible to sit for the Patent Bar Exam.
