Julius H. Miner Moot Court Competition

Welcome to the Julius H. Miner Moot Court Competition. We thank you for generously agreeing to devote your time and energy to judging this year's competition. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with general information about your participation as a judge in this year's moot court competition.

When to Arrive at Northwestern Law
If you are plan on attending dinner at the law school before your scheduled round, please arrive by 6:00 P.M. Dinner will be held in Lowden Hall, located on the first floor of the Levy-Mayer building of the law school. There will be signs throughout the law school directing you towards Lowden Hall. During dinner, we will introduce Mrs. Judith Miner, the generous sponsor of the competition. Following dinner, there will be a brief explanation of this year's problem, as well as a question and answer session.

If you cannot attend dinner, please arrive at the law school by 7:00 P.M. to check in and to find your assigned room. Check-in will take place outside Lowden Hall, on the first floor of the Levy-Mayer building. There will be signs throughout the law school directing you towards Lowden Hall.

Directions to Northwestern Law
The law school is located at 357 E. Chicago Avenue, approximately at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Lake Shore Drive. If you are driving, what follows are directions to the law school from various points in the Chicago-land area:

Driving from North of Chicago

Take Interstate 90/94. Follow the signs that say 90/94 East to Indiana. Exit at Ohio Street. Ohio is a one way exit which turns into Ohio Street going east. Follow Ohio for 12 traffic lights to Fairbanks Court. Turn left (north) on to Fairbanks Court. You will follow Fairbanks Court for three blocks. You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.

Turn right (east) onto Superior Street, which is four streets down after turning onto Fairbanks. Follow Superior east for approximately half a mile until you reach the Abbott Hall parking lot on your right side, which is the last parking lot before you reach Lake Shore Drive. Turn right into the parking lot and park your car.

After parking your car (parking will be discussed later in this letter) exit the north end of the parking lot and cross Superior Street. Enter the law school through Robert McCormick Hall located at 350 East Superior Street, and follow the signs to Lowden Hall.

Directions from South of Chicago

Take Interstate 55 North or 57 North to 90/94 West. Exit Congress Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road until it ends at Columbus Drive. Take a left on Columbus Drive (which turns into Fairbanks Court). You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.

Driving from East of Chicago

Take Interstate 80, 90, or 94. Follow the signs that say Interstate 90/94 West to Wisconsin. Exit Congress Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road until it ends at Columbus Drive. Take a left on Columbus Drive (which turns into Fairbanks Court). Once it turns into Fairbanks Court, you follow Fairbanks Court for three blocks. You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.

After parking your car (which will be discussed later in this letter) exit the north end of the parking lot and cross Superior Street. Enter the law school through Robert McCormick Hall located at 350 East Superior Street, and follow the signs to Lowden Hall.

Directions from West of Chicago

Option 1

Take Interstate 88 East to 290 East (the Eisenhower Expressway). Follow the signs for Congress Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road until it ends at Columbus Drive. Take a left on Columbus Drive (which turns into Fairbanks Court). You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.

Option 2

Take Interstate 80 East to 55 North or 57 North to 90/94 West. Exit Congress Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road until it ends at Columbus Drive. Take a left on Columbus Drive (which turns into Fairbanks Court). You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.

Parking

We are more than happy to provide parking for you. Parking is available in the Abbott Hall parking lot, which is the last parking lot on the south side of Superior Street before Lake Shore Drive. The parking lot is across the street from the law school's Robert McCormick Hall, and will be accessible all nights of the tournament.
