Case Details

During police interrogation, both fourteen-year-old Timothy Brown and nineteen-year-old Keith King falsely confessed to killing Broward Sherrif's Office Deputy Patrick Behan in 1990. Both Brown and King were mentally disabled and both reported being beaten by police. Faced with the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison, King falsely pled guilty and testified against Brown in exchange for a reduced sentence. They remained in prison until 2002, when jail deputy and security guard Andrew Johnson confessed to shooting Behan.
