We are so glad you're interested in coming to Northwestern Law! As the most diverse of the top law schools, Northwestern is committed to fostering diversity of all types. Students can be very comfortably "out" here, and we think you will find that the Northwestern community is friendly and respectful. OUTLaw is an active, visible, and well-supported student group. Our law school is fairly small, so the Northwestern LGBT community is too - but the city of Chicago is not! We are right in the middle of one of the nation's largest urban centers, which has a vibrant LGBT culture. Queer and queer-friendly neighborhoods like Boystown and Andersonville are just a few "El" stops away and are full of action!
We urge you to apply to Northwestern Law and, if you're admitted, to join us here next year!
All admitted LGBT students are invited to OUTLaw-sponsored events during Day at Northwestern Law and Orientation. Contact us for more information.
Current OUTLaw members, faculty, administrators, and staff are happy to speak with prospective LGBT students. For a list of contacts, e-mail Sue.
There are numerous resources available to LGBT students, sponsored by the Law School, the University and the community at large. See our links page for more information.
