Arthur Hill (top), Chief Deputy State's Attorney and Brent Stratton, a partner at Jenner & Block were the latest speakers in a series sponsored by the Northwestern University School of Law Legal Clinic on Thursday, September 30.

As leading practitioners, they each provided their perspective on the criminal law process and the practice of law. As a prosecutor and defense attorney, respectively, each approached the topic from a different point of view. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions about their career choices and experiences.

A graduate of Northwestern, where he was active in the Legal Clinic, Hill served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County. After serving as a prosecutor for 5 years, he went into private practice specializing in civil litigation. He rejoined the State's Attorney's Office in 1996 and currently oversees its day-to-day operations. An active member of the community, Hill is also a board member of the Chicago Transit Authority.

Also a Northwestern graduate, Stratton, Stratton began his career working for Patrick Tuite, one of Chicago's leading criminal defense lawyers, before joining Jenner & Block. Brent has broad experience in criminal defense work in both our state and federal courts. He is the new President of the John Howard Association, Illinois' leading prison reform organization.
