Northwestern Law Team Takes Second Place in National Trial Advocacy Competition
Congratulations to our Northwestern Law team, who took second place in a field of 52 national competitors in the American Bar Association’s inaugural National Finals of the Student Trial Advocacy Competition, hosted by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the ABA. The Northwestern Law team included:
Simar Singh (JD '08)
Ethan White (JD '08)
Brian Miller (JD '08)
Jessica Frogge (JD '09)
The event was held last weekend at the Chicago federal courthouse. The Northwestern team, coached by Michael Leonard of Meckler Bulger and Tilson, defeated teams from Southern Methodist University, Florida State University, the University of Richmond and Brooklyn Law School, before losing a split decision in the final round to Pepperdine University School of law.
Students were judged on their advocacy skills and courtroom presence by federal judges, law professors andprominent employment lawyers from around the nation. Each team comprised four law students, two serving as lawyers and two acting as witnesses for the trial.
Again, please join me in congratulating the team on a job well done. This is a great success for our students and our community.
