Re: Interim Dean and Search Committee Announcement
As you know, Dean David Van Zandt will be leaving the School of Law to become president of The New School in New York City effective Jan. 1, 2011.
I am very pleased to announce that Kim Yuracko, associate dean for academics and professor of law, has agreed to serve as interim dean of the School of Law. Kim will continue to work closely with David this fall during his transition to The New School and will become full-time interim dean effective Jan. 1, 2011.
We are very pleased that Kim will be serving in this role and look forward to her leadership during our transition to the next dean.
I also am pleased to announce that Dorothy Roberts, Kirkland & Ellis Professor of Law, has agreed to serve as chair of the dean search committee. The committee will be comprised of the following individuals:
Jake Julia, associate vice president/associate provost for academic initiatives, and Marianna Kepka, director of academic administration, will staff this search, and a search firm will be retained to assist us with the search.
I would like to thank all of you who have taken the time to talk with me or to write to me regarding this search and the future of the School of Law. Your counsel has been extremely helpful to me, and I look forward to a successful outcome to this search.
