Law Site Makeover
2/27/04 LAW SITE MAKEOVER
After undergoing a year-long redesign process, the Northwestern Law Web site will have a new look on Friday, March 5. We hope you will be pleased with the updated site. The Law School’s Marketing and Communications and IT departments worked closely with Web Communications in Northwestern’s Department of University Relations to design the new look. Faculty, staff, and students also provided input along the way to make sure the new design would be more accessible and easier to navigate. We encourage you to take the user survey, and tell us what you think. Your feedback is valuable in our continued efforts to improve the Law School site. Here are some of the new and improved features to look for: |
|
| Home Page – The first thing you may notice is our newly designed home page. We have incorporated news, rotating pictures, and rollover menus to create a more appealing front page with easier navigation tools (see below) and immediate access to daily events at the Law School. | ![]() |
Universal Navigation – The universal navigation
system remains consistent on every page, so that from anywhere on the
site you can get to Admissions, Academics, Faculty & Research, Our
Community, Facilities & Resources, Law Library, and News & Events.
And to make it even easier to find what you are looking for, each of
the universal navigation sections has a dropdown rollover menu. Now
you will know what you will find in each section before you click.
Search Box – Now you can search the Northwestern Law site or central Northwestern University site from any page. The search box will always be in the upper right corner of the site. |
“Information For” – This special
audience-based section on the home page helps you navigate the site
based on who you are. It provides short cuts to the pages that we think
are most important to you. Each audience path can also be navigated
to from the “Our Community” section.

Utilities Bar – This feature can be found at the bottom of every page. The utility bar includes links for internal audiences to easily access the most frequently used areas on the site, including Esqwire, Blackboard, Registration, and Webmail. It also includes a Site Map that allows you to view an outline of the contents of the entire site.
| Breadcrumbs – Think of it as a little trail that tells you where you are on the site and how you got there. To return to an earlier section, you can just click on the breadcrumbs rather than clicking the back button. |

Quick Links – This new feature provides links under the main category pages to other areas of the site that we think may also interest you. |
