Welcome from the SBA

Dear incoming member of the class of 2011,

Congratulations on being accepted to Northwestern University School of Law. On behalf of all the students I would like to welcome you to the Law School and into our community! You have had many choices, and you have made the decision to add to the rich, vibrant, scholarly tradition which makes up Northwestern University School of Law.

For the next three years you will be immersed in one of the best law school communities in the world. Our dynamic faculty, dedicated staff, and motivated student body, combined with the picturesque setting of downtown Chicago, create the perfect environment for you to begin your legal career. The Student Bar Association (SBA) is here to ensure that our community thrives and fosters your legal studies. Throughout your 1L year you will hear of many opportunities to get involved with the SBA. Please keep these in mind as you look for ways to be active in our community.

Over the next few months you will be getting a great deal of information from the law school and from the SBA's orientation committee, chaired by Richard Glover and Doug Winnard. Along with the Director of Student Affairs, Ernest Perez, they are working diligently to ensure everything is ready for your arrival in August. Please direct any questions you might have to orientationchair@law.northwestern.edu, but also feel free to contact me personally at a-clark2009@nlaw.northwestern.edu or (404) 717-4356. Along with the entire SBA Executive Board (Garrick Merlo – Vice President, Emily Wahlheim – Treasurer, and Claire Lux - Secretary) I look forward to meeting you in August. Take time to rest this summer and we will see you in the fall!

All the best,

Assad Clark
SBA President, 2008-2009
