Welcome from the Dean of Students

Summer of 2008

Dear Members of the Class of 2011:

Congratulations on your decision to join the Northwestern University School of Law community! We think that you will find Northwestern Law to be an amazing community that will greatly foster your law school experience. Speaking for the entire Student Affairs office, we are looking forward to meeting you in the coming weeks.

In Student Affairs, we work with students to maximize the quality of their educational and extracurricular experience at Northwestern Law. We are available as a resource for personal and academic questions that may arise during your years at Northwestern Law. In addition, we work closely with the administration, faculty, and student organizations to develop programs and policies that will enrich and supplement your classroom experience. Finally, we coordinate several of the key institutional events at the law school, including orientation and graduation.

Working closely with the Student Orientation Committee, we have planned a variety of informational, instructional, and social events during the orientation for new students. Orientation for the Class of 2011 is scheduled for August 22 – August 29.

Currently on the Orientation Web site, you will find resources and information that will ease your transition to Northwestern Law. Please read these carefully and periodically check the Web site for updated information. Most orientation events are mandatory, thus, if you are unable to meet a deadline or attend a mandatory activity, you must notify Student Affairs as soon as possible.

If you have questions, concerns, or just want to introduce yourself, please feel free to call during the summer or make an appointment to visit when you arrive in Chicago. We, personally, look forward to meeting you. Until then, we hope you are enjoying the summer.
