Welcome to SERV’s fabulous website! SERV stands for Student Effort
to Rejuvenate Volunteering. The purpose of the organization is to develop
projects to enrich the collegial learning environment and to cultivate
an ethics of service here at the Law School. Community service provides
a unique and valuable forum to strengthen the network of students,
student organizations, faculty, and staff. By participating in community
service events or volunteering on a regular basis, students give back
to the community, learn to balance their lives, gain perspectives,
and interact with colleagues in positive ways outside of the classroom.
We hope that this site will help the Northwestern community keep
up to date with SERV events and help us preserve the wonderful memories
we have made while helping others. This year has been an exciting
time for SERV as well as the rest of Northwestern University Law
School. With the help and dedication of Maureen Stratton, Public
Service Coordinator, as well as the rest of the executive board,
we were able to establish a great relationship with Chicago Public
School by adopting Talcott Elementary, located in West Town. From
the overwhelming support of students, faculty, staff here at the
law school, we hope that this program is just the beginning of a
lasting and wonderful relationship between the law school and the
greater Chicago community. Aside
from the School Partnership Program, SERV has also worked with
many other
great organizations on and off campus. Check out
our list of events to find out what we have done, who we’ve
worked with, and what we still want to do!
