History of Economic Regulation
This course examines the history and present of regulation: the legal reaction to, and treatment of, capitalism. It situates past and current regulatory law in the broader context of shifts in the American economy, political dynamics, and cultural attitudes. We review legal developments spanning the centuries, from the introduction of the corporate form to the reaction to Big Tech, in diverse fields such as contracts, antitrust, banking and securities, and administrative law.
