Arlyn Miner First-Year Moot Court Program

The Arlyn Miner First-Year Moot Court Program is the culminating event of the Communication and Legal Reasoning course. All JD students spend the final semester of their first year writing and revising complex, multi-issue briefs, which they argue before a panel of alumni and faculty judges.

The Program is designed to introduce the basics of oral advocacy to all students and to provide them with a non-competitive learning experience, after which they can opt to pursue competitive moot court opportunities in their second and third years of school, such as Julius H. Miner Moot Court Competition and Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Team.

The Program is generously supported by Judd and Linda Miner, in honor of Arlyn Miner, Judd's sister and daughter of Julius and Judith Miner. The Miners also sponsor the Arlyn Miner Book Awards, given annually to the student in each CLR section who demonstrates excellence in written advocacy.
