First-Generation Prelaw Conference
Navigating Law School Admissions for First-Generation and Underrepresented Students
Saturday, November 4, 2023
9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Overview
First-Generation applicants to law school face a unique set of challenges, often navigating the application and admissions process without the networks, resources, and support that may be available to their peers. Northwestern Pritzker School of Law’s First-Generation Pre-Law Conference is meant to break down those barriers by providing information, connections, and resources for prospective law students. This program targets any students who do not have a familial relationship to the legal profession, as well as students who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the legal profession. Sessions and workshops taking place at the Conference include:
- Navigating the Law School Admissions Process
- First-Generation Student Panel: "What I Wish I Knew"
- Conversation with First-Generation Alumni: “Why Law School Was the Right Choice for Me”
- Preparing for the LSAT
- Financing Law School
- Personal Statements
