2019 Innovation Lab Law and Technology Demos
Interested in how technologies such as artificial intelligence can improve legal services? Join Northwestern Law and Northwestern Engineering for the Innovation Lab “Law and Technology” Demos.

Six teams of Northwestern Law, Master of Science in Law, and Computer Science students worked with project partners to address real world challenges. The interdisciplinary teams developed technology solutions, under the direction of Professors Kris Hammond, Dan Linna, and Dave Schwartz.
The project partners submitted significant challenges:
- Actuate Law – telemedicine compliance
- Bluhm Legal Clinic – delivering know-your-rights immigration information to young people
- Mayer Brown – contract terms review
- Mayer Brown – assessing AI liability for financial services
- Northwestern – court data exploration
- Reed Smith – rationalizing legal research
Judges from across the legal profession will assess the technology prototypes:

The Innovation Lab is designed to immerse students in the innovation process. Students work as part of a multidisciplinary team to explore a problem relating to the legal profession, understand the stakeholders' needs, brainstorm, prototype, and test ideas, and iterate through the development of a technology-based solution.
