Reporting Diversity-Related Concerns

Northwestern Pritzker School of Law strives to create an inclusive and supportive community of scholars.  We recognize, however, that members of our community may have interactions with one another that may raise concerns related to equitable treatment and/or inclusion and may wish to file a report.  Reports can be made to the Law School directly or to the University.  Please note that, in some instances, the Law School must refer matters brought to its attention to the University, particularly matters that may implicate the University's Policies on Sexual Misconduct and/or Discrimination & Harassment.

Report a Diversity-Related Concern

Office of Inclusion & Engagement: All members of the Law School community are welcome to discuss any diversity-related concerns with Associate Dean of Inclusion & Engagement Shannon P. Bartlett at shannon.bartlett@law.northwestern.edu or to diversity@law.northwestern.edu.  

Submit a Bias Incident Report to BIRT: The Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) is a group of administrators who are committed to creating a proactive response to instances of hate and bias. When a student reports a bias/hate incident through RespectNU one of the BIRT members will support the student, connect them with the appropriate resources, and follow-up with them until the situation has been resolved.

Report an Incident to the Office of Equity: Northwestern has designated the Office of Equity to oversee complaints of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct at the University. An individual who has experienced misconduct has the right to choose whether to report the incident to Northwestern and request an investigation. Equity staff members are specially trained to work with individuals who report misconduct and have knowledge about on- and off-campus resources, services, and options – including the availability of supportive measures.

File a Disability Grievance with the Office of Equity: Northwestern University has adopted internal grievance procedures providing for prompt, equitable and impartial resolution of grievances alleging any action prohibited by the ADA or Section 504. These procedures apply to complaints of discrimination or harassment on the basis of disability by staff, faculty, students and applicants for both University employment and academic admission, vendors, contractors, and third parties.
