The Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual
Property is proud to announce the publication of the second
issue in the seventh volume. The current issue contains
thought-provoking articles relating to Internet gambling,
patents, and trademarks. From the patent side, we have an
empirical study of inter partes reexamination proceedings that
contains a proposal to expand inter partes reexaminations
to patents filed before November 29, 1999 as well as an article
that looks at the Supreme Court's recent patent jurisprudence
from a psychoanalytic viewpoint. In the trademark area, we look
at the past, present, and recommended future of well-known
trademarks in China. Finally, the Internet gambling article
supports the current system of Internet gambling regulation by
likening it to the regulation of alcohol and cigarettes. The
current issue also includes comments on whether stage directions
are copyrightable in view of the present statutory scheme and
the constitutional mandate to promote the progress of science,
and steps YouTube can take to protect the copyrights of
screenwriters. Please visit our current issue page to read more.
