Ralph Frye falsely confessed to a crime he did not commit, putting himself in prison and Joseph Burrows on death row
Ralph Frye falsely confessed to a role in the robbery and murder of William Dulan, an elderly Iroquois County farmer. The confession not only contributed to Frye's wrongful conviction but also to that of Joseph Burrows, who was sentenced to death for the crime in 1989. Frye and Burrows were exonerated and released in 1994 after the actual killer, Gayle Potter, confessed that she alone had committed the crime. Potter originally had falsely implicated Frye and Burrows.
