How to Support Us

The Social Work Advocacy Program (SWAP) has become a critical component of the Bluhm Legal Clinic, and, with additional support, SWAP can continue to grow the breadth of its work. SWAP expansion can improve the landscape of clinical education and support court-involved individuals across the state.

In-kind Donations

SWAP is seeking in-kind donations that can assist our clients with their education, daily life, stability, and ability to move forward. Below are some suggestions of in-kind donations:

Tangible

  • New or used computers for clients attending school
  • Uber and Ventra Cards for clients to travel to court, job interviews, and meetings with lawyers
  • Food and personal hygiene items
  • New or used phones
  • New or gently used backpacks and school supplies
  • Tickets to college and professional sporting events
  • Tickets to plays, musicals, concerts, speakers, and other cultural events occurring around the city

Intangible

  • Assistance in completing applications for vocational or post-high school educational programs and scholarships
  • Connections to landlords
  • Financial literacy assistance
  • Connections to prospective employers and business mentorship

Monetary Donations

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Social Work Advocacy Program. Your donation to SWAP aids our efforts to provide holistic advocacy to clinic clients.

  • A $25 donation would provide an Uber ride for a client to or from a job interview or a GED study guidebook.
  • A $50 donation would cover the cost of a client’s cell phone bill for one month.
  • A $100 donation would cover a month of public transportation for traveling to work, legal meetings, or court.
  • A $500 donation would provide clothing to a client returning home from prison.
  • A $1,000 donation would pay for a security deposit and the first month's rent.
  • A $2,500 donation would pay one year of community college tuition.
