Prisoners' Advocate Conference

The biennial Prisoners' Advocate Conference, most recently held in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Denver, will be held in Chicago from November 13-14, 2020 at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

(Please note that attendance is restricted to students, advocates for people in custody and people who are formerly-incarcerated. Continuing Legal Education Credit will be provided.)

The keynote speaker will be Mariame Kaba, who describes herself as an “organizer, educator and curator. My work focuses on ending violence (and) dismantling the prison industrial complex...” Mariame is an abolitionist, scholar and strategist. Multiple universities, foundations and non-profit organizations have recognized her work and leadership. You can read about her here:

There will be dozens of topics relevant to prisoners’ rights litigators and advocates, including:

  • LGBTQ+ issues in prisons and jails
